I started my journey by paying homage and seeking the blessings of our noble lady Janabe Zainab (AS) and the beloved daughter of Imam Hussayn (AS), Janabe Sakina (AS) in Damascus.
I arrived in Damascus on the 29th of May 2009 and Alhamdulillah was able to offer my salutations at the holy shrines as well as completing the other ziaraats around and outside Damascus.
I had the opportunity to spend 2 days gaining a vivid and first hand insight into our community's Muballigheen training programme at the Institute of Islamic Postgraduate Studies ( IIPS). It is a truly remarkable step that the community has taken and one
only has to see the quality and dedication of teachers and the students to appreciate what valuable asset we have - it is ours to develop and build upon, and if elected, I intend to ensure its continuity and growth, because it truly can be a centre of excellence for our community. The syllabus and training is specifically and ideally tailored to delivering the needs of our communities today.
My trip to Damascus was incredibly engaging and spiritually uplifting. Inshallah with this, I begin my travels to connect my communities across the globe, to meet them, and most importantly to listen to them, to hear their visions for betterment of the community.
