This is a very honest statement and a major concern for people around the world.

For a variety of reasons there has been a lot of disengagement with The World Federation and with the community institutions.

I empathise with people who feel that WF hasn't catered for them. But rather than getting into details (in this FAQ) on why people are disengaged, I want to look to the future and offer a solution.

One of my 14 pledges is to "Bring The World Federation to the people". I believe it's time our organisations become more open, more representative and more willing to listen to all our community members.

Whilst at CoEJ, I worked hard on making sure that the grassroots had a say in their leadership. One example was making sure that a new constitution was adopted at CoEJ which would allow all the people in Europe who are members of Jamaat to vote for a President. This is a stark contrast to when I took over when only leaders selected the CoEJ President and there was no direct connection between the people of Europe and the CoEJ President. This has now changed and it's a big shift in Europe.

I want to make sure that we do the same in World Federation, in every respect. From making sure we communicate to members directly more often to being accountable openly and honestly on my manifesto commitments. I have even pledged to attend an open conference call once a month and open internet chatrooms where any community member can ask me questions about the performance of The World Federation.
