This is an important area and you are right in saying it has been ignored for too long.
I can assure that I will champion the rights of the disabled.
At CoEJ this was an area where we placed priority. We did a pilot study of one of our largest Jamaats and agreed a list of recommendations. We are now working on rolling out these recommendations in partnership with other Jamaats across Europe. We have a specific team within the CoEJ Health Board with a mandate to deal with this issue.
At The World Federation, we must encourage regions and Jamaats to enable full access to those with disabilities. From physical access to buildings or the ability to hear lecturers. Some of our centres are working hard on this and at The World Federation I am proposing to set up a system which will encourage the sharing of best practice so that we can all learn from those centres that are implementing these changes.
