Fear God, and be good brothers for each other. Love each other for the sake of God, and be united, visit each other, talk about our friendship and revive it
Imam Sadiq, a.s.
Our community is dispersed. Despite living in an era of instant mass communication we are still struggling to listen to each other. I believe we must engage to all our brothers and sisters and provide information about our institutions so that they are all aware of the work done, and the progress made.
But communication must be a two way street. More importantly The World Federation needs to listen. We must listen to all of our community members and use innovative methods such as online chat rooms, open conference calls and other technology to connect with community members from ALL parts of the world.
By 2012 I pledge to ...
-
• Strengthen the communications team which will:
-
- Upgrade the website to make it more appealing and user friendly.
-
- Appoint a trained media spokesperson to ensure the voice of The World Federation is heard in local, national, regional and international media around the world.
-
- Provide media training to our volunteers.
-
- Formulate a crisis response strategy so that we can help our members in distress.
-
- Strengthen internal communication and communication to the Regional Bodies through regular updates.
-
- Make sure The World Federation’s magazines such as Insight are promptly delivered every three months.
-
- Ensure adopted summaries of meetings such as The Executive Council meetings are placed on the website for the community to see and to comment upon.
-
- Utilise different media to promote our messages and activities including television, print and the web.
-
- Increase our political influence and look into utilizing our own media.
-
- Visit each region at least once a year and ensure Executive Councillors and Office Bearers talk to all our community’s leadership and members so that we listen to each other
-
- Support and contribute articles to community magazines worldwide.
