Were people aware of what lies in the obtainment of knowledge, they would pursue it even though they had to make voyages and endanger their lives to obtain it

Generations have worked hard to give their children a better life by providing them with the gift of education. No community child should EVER be denied education.

I feel that opportunities should be created for every community member to aspire to higher education, whether academic or vocational. We must support all of our students around the world, but particularly those who are in hardship, as they need our help the most.
The Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) is a flagship project.Thousands of students are gaining an education which would otherwise be impossible. The ZCSS can better inform the community about its work. The scheme faces challenges that must be tackled head on and with great conviction.

By 2012 I pledge to...

• • Promote a policy of education for all by:
  • - Providing careers support and publishing materials on how to access career support.
  • - Creating a database of professionals who could act as career mentors.
  • - Cultivating a system of internships within our own community, to help our students secure jobs during the difficult global financial crisis and its recovery.
• • Rejuvenating the ZCSS by:
  • - Developing the quality of statistical information about ZCSS and gaining feedback from the agencies involved to further enhance the whole scheme.
  • - Improving the quality of ZCSS schools (both primary and secondary) and creating key performance indicators for all schools to measure their performance.
  • - Analysing past ZCSS students and find out where they are now in order to understand the successes and failures of the scheme.
  • - Investing in training for teachers, headteachers and trustees.
  • - Creating careers services to make better informed careers choices.
  • - Listening to the experiences of those involved with ZCSS.
  • - Motivating ZCSS students to continue through the education system.
  • - Addressing the cultural barriers towards higher education.
  • - Providing better communication to ZCSS sponsors.
  • - Publishing a detailed study of ZCSS, its impact and achievements.
  • - Promoting success stories and highlighting lessons learnt when things do not go to plan.
