Within our community, we have many dedicated workers who tirelessly give up their time. All our volunteers - be they car park helpers, regional federation leaders, Madrasah teachers or volunteers who make the tea - all have one common aim. That is to serve the community and to ultimately serve Allah (s.w.t).

Our community thrives because of its volunteers and its unsung heroes. Every single one of our volunteers must feel they are a valued. They are the single greatest asset of our community.

I want to strengthen the culture of volunteering. I want to encourage new and more people to give up - even a few minutes in the service of our community.

By 2012 I pledge to ...

• Foster a culture of community service at every opportunity by:
- - Encouraging new faces to join all of our organisations as volunteers
- - Ensuring access to training for existing volunteers
- - Cultivating a culture of openness and transparency
- - Ensuring we are all aware of the opportunities to serve
- - Using online recruitment to more actively advertise voluntary positions
- - Encouraging our Jamaats to create opportunities for young children to serve the community.
- - Increasing the diversity of our volunteers within The World Federation’s core teams, so that we have volunteers of both genders, all ages, all regions and all walks of life.
