He who seeks for sustenance in this world in order to be independent of people for his needs, to provide for his family members, and to stretch affection unto his neighbours, will meet Allah, Almighty and Glorious, on the Day of Judgement while his face will be as bright as the full moon.

We live in tough financial times. I am aware that many of our community members are facing mounting problems. We have a duty to respond to and help our brothers and sisters. I want to take a lead in re-building and supporting businesses, enterprise and providing training – so that we can uplift our community members. InshAllah, we will return to a better global economic environment over the coming months. We must make sure that we take full advantage of a recovery and position ourselves to be more resilient to any future downturns.

• Develop an international economic advisory council.

• Facilitate collective investment schemes.

• Hold economic forums at Executive Council meetings to ensure our leadership is well briefed on economic matters.

• Liaise with our community business organisations to identify where we can work in partnership.

• Commit to the training of all our people for the future so that we increase our skills base.
